Sabrina Vlaskalic teaches Dionisio Aguado’s exciting “Rondo” from his Introduction and Rondo Op. 2 No. 2. The lesson begins with Vlaskalic’s personal journey learning the piece starting at the age of 15 and the insights she has developed over many years of study.
Vlaskalic then walks through the piece, discussing musical aspects such as types of articulation, the difference between volume and color, and ways to vary a repeated musical figure. Later in the lesson, Vlaskalic breaks down several difficult passages and shares ways of building the necessary endurance to play these sections at the end of an especially taxing piece.
