Study Op.31 No.16

In this lesson Colin Davin teaches Fernando Sor's Study Op.31 No.16, also known as study number 8 from Andrés Segovia's renumbering. Colin begins the lesson by showing how splitting the diffent voices will help you shape each more effectively. He discusses left hand independence, and how to break down the particularly difficult sections to practice. He explores the editorial differences and then concludes the lesson with a discussion of what options you have when it comes to choosing slurs in this particular study.

Study Op.31 No.19

In this lesson Colin Davin teaches Fernando Sor's Study Op.31 No.19, also known as study number 10 from Andrés Segovia's renumbering. Colin begins by outlining the primary concepts in the piece for both the right and left hands, and hten discusses the differences between different versions. He continues the lesson by guiding you through the most difficult sections, disccing harmonic shaping, phrasing, and analysis. Colin concludes the lesson by explaining how the study can benefit your overall playing.

Study Op.31 No.20

In this lesson Colin Davin teaches Fernando Sor's Study Op.31 No.20, also known as study number 9 from Andrés Segovia's renumbering. Colin begins the lesson by highlighting the Gavotte-like nature of the piece, and discussing voicing and the precision necessary to bring them out. He focuses on balance and the particularly difficult sections for each hand, highlighting some of the particularly challenging measures within the piece. Colin concludes the lesson with a discussion of the articulation, independence, and control that this study requires.
