Villa-Lobos
Prelude No. 3
Taught by renowned guitaristÂ
Isaac Bustos
Isaac Bustos is back with another insightful lesson, this time on one of Heitor Villa-Lobos's most beautiful of the five preludes, No. 3.

The lesson opens with a brief discussion of what exactly makes this piece a 'prelude.' In addition, Isaac highlights its Impressionism influence which distinctly sets it apart from Villa-Lobos's other works in this set.

Isaac then continues by breaking down some of the more complicated passages including the opening rising lines and the arpeggios that come later in the A section. For each, he shares fingerings that make the technical execution easier in addition to achieving the desired musical effect.

Other topics covered in this lesson including reducing 'squeaks' in the left hand, maintaining legato lines, and ways of practicing this piece with the right hand alone.
