About This Lesson

We sat down with Pepe Romero on a beautiful day in Del Mar, California to discuss his life with music and his general philosophies on guitar technique and performing.

Set in the historic Romero household, Maestro Romero begins by talking about the famous composers - namely Joaquin Rodrigo and Federico Moreno Torroba - who wrote at the piano in the background. After sharing the history of his life in Spain and his family’s move to Santa Barbara, the interview shifts to his personal experiences learning the instrument from his father, Celedonio.

The last two parts of the interview dive into Romero’s philosophies on developing technique and achieving an open performance mindset.
