The goal is to make your time at the festival as efficient, enjoyable, and successful as possible. To achieve this, every Active and Premium Participant will receive a 30-45 minute onboarding call with members of the tonebase team. During this call, we will discuss your current goals, needs, and aspirations to create a personalized plan for your time at the festival.

Following the onboarding call, we will create a profile for you. This profile will give each teacher a better understanding **before** your lessons of what you are working on and how they can best assist you.

Want to run a piece by some of the faculty? Great! Preparing for a competition? Amazing! Struggling with those double-stops in Kreisler’s “Praeludium Allegro”? Wonderful! Have general questions or issues regarding posture, scales, arpeggios, speed development, tone production or just generally want to get better or “brush up on your fundamentals before getting into repertoire”?

The onboarding call is one of the main features that sets this event apart from other festivals, allowing us to get to know you beforehand and ensuring your time with the faculty is as impactful for your learning outcome as possible.

You will get to know members of your cohort: The Forum Group will allow participants to introduce themselves and connect. You’ll engage in discussions, share your musical interests, and form friendships with fellow attendees. This pre-event networking will foster a sense of community, enhancing your festival experience.

‍We will provide teaching materials for workshops, lectures, etc.: We will share essential teaching materials for the upcoming activities, including practice sheets, reading materials, and video tutorials. Access to these resources in advance will help you familiarize yourself with the content and come prepared, maximizing the benefits of each session.

Each session will have a kick-off event which will be a great opportunity to get to know your cohort members IRL. Further we will have on open MIC night giving folks the opportunity to perform → A great way to run your program for a friendly audience, or simply enjoy performances of fellow participants

While we don’t hold auditions , and generally encourage players of all levels to engage in high level learning, it is fair to say that players who have a few years of experience playing would benefit most from this event. You don’t need to be a concert soloist, but if you just picked up the Violin a few months ago, most likely it will be difficult for you to benefit.

Again, regardless if you’re devoted music lover, just re-turning or re-discovering your passion and fire for the violin, or are a seasoned professional, music student, or teacher, this is the event for you.

Each Active and Premium participant will receive 3 individual lessons for single sessions or 6 individual lessons for full sessions, guaranteed!

While we will try to accommodate each participant's faculty preferences, Premium participants will receive priority when assigning teachers. Some artists will be with us for only a limited number of dates, so their lessons will fill up quickly.

No, we don’t provide housing, but the gorgeous city of Münster has a great selection of hotels, from comfortable options at a great value, to premium options. All within walking distance from the train station and the University of Münster - School of Music.

Münster is a very pedestrian and cyclist friendly city with lavish parks and a gorgeous historical city center to explore, and as such, you will never be more than a 10min stroll away from a great selection of restaurants, cafés and bars.

Both options are great; it depends on the time you have available and where you are in your learning journey.

If you would like to “sample” the best of the best and have a wonderful time with like-minded violin enthusiasts, enjoying music, a phenomenal faculty, in a historical city, then the 5-Day Session will suffice.

However, if you want to truly immerse yourself and treat the tonebase Festival as an opportunity to transform your playing, then the Full Session is for you. You will not only receive more lessons with more masters (3 vs. 6 lessons), but you will also witness more workshops. This extended period will allow the teaching faculty to work on your development as a player more thoroughly, making a true investment in your advancement.
