Sharon Sparrow is one of the most highly-esteemed artists and pedagogues of the modern flute world.
An alumna of The Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music, Sparrow trained under notable figures like Julius Baker, Geoffrey Gilbert, and Thomas Nyfenger. Sparrow has served as a principal flutist for orchestras including the Memphis Symphony and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and is currently Assistant Principal Flutist for the Detroit Symphony. She has also collaborated with the Chicago, Pittsburgh, Hong Kong, and Baltimore symphonies.
Beyond performing, Sparrow's global masterclasses and orchestral audition training emphasize mindset and preparation. Her popular book 6 Weeks to Finals: The Complete Guide to Audition Success has shaped her reputation in music education, leading to seminars at prestigious institutions such as the Peabody Conservatory. She is also Instructor of Flute at Wayne State and Oakland Universities, and a proactive advocate for music education, especially for young audiences.
